"Being a small company has its perks. When a client calls, I know who she is and what service I am providing. When a client wants her system to change, I get it done instead of going through corporate formalities.
I started eManaged, LLC because I saw an opportunity. As a software engineer working for a medical device company, we are reviewed annually. Part of the review is something called 360 degree feedback. This survey is pretty neat because you are rated by your peers, your manager, your reports, and even by yourself. If you ever have a chance to get assessed by one of these surveys it's very enlightening.
To fill out the surveys, we used an online system provided by an external vendor. I immediately noticed security flaws with their site. The web pages were slow and not user friendly. I accidentally missed the cut off date, and had to request an extension - the vendor charged a lot of money for this, even though it just involved clicking a button.
I said, "Strike Three," and, armed with a Masters Degree in Software Engineering, I knew I could create a better system.
After over a year's worth of development, I had done just that. A couple months later, I teamed up with a consulting company, Employers Association of Minnesota. They are a non-profit organization helping companies in and around Minnesota with HR and Management. I was really happy to partner with them because they have the same passion as me for delivering the greatest possible value to the end user.
eManaged began providing Employers Association's 360 degree surveys online. This is a great service to them. While we focus on the technical aspects of the system and answering users computer questions (what we do best), they focus on the selecting the right survey for a company and analyzing results (what they do best).
Reports that used to take Employers Association hours crunching numbers in excel are now delivered overnight by the eManaged system. They are so happy with our system that now we manage their Employee Opinion system too.
We opened for business in the fall of 2005, and became immediately successful - because we know what's most important: the ability to listen to our partner's needs; and the ability to turn them into solutions."
